Sal Sunseri is an American football coach who currently serves as the linebackers coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He has over 30 years of coaching experience at both the college and professional levels.
Sunseri began his coaching career in 1982 as a graduate assistant at Pittsburgh. He has since held various coaching positions at schools such as Illinois State, Louisville, LSU, Alabama, and Florida State.
Sunseri is known for his defensive expertise and his ability to develop players. He has coached several standout linebackers and helped lead his teams to multiple conference championships and bowl game appearances.
Prior to joining the staff at Alabama, Sunseri was the defensive ends coach at Florida State. He has also had stints in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers and the Oakland Raiders.
Sunseri comes from a football family; his son, Vinnie Sunseri, played college football at Alabama and went on to have a brief career in the NFL.
